In this pivotal role, the Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the security, reliability, and scalability of Kiavi’s application platform. Key duties include designing and implementing infrastructure from code, managing configuration and environments, and automating operational processes. The position requires expertise in Linux/Unix systems, continuous delivery, AWS, containerization, and infrastructure as code, along with strong communication and troubleshooting skills.

The role is fully remote within approved regions, though certain states and metro areas are excluded. Infrastructure Design: Develop and implement infrastructure from code to ensure robust and scalable systems.

Configuration Management: Design and manage configuration for systems, including production and pre-production environments.

Security and Compliance: Automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation.

Monitoring and Logging: Implement and deploy systems for monitoring, metrics, and logging to track system performance and health.

Automation: Create and maintain tools to automate operational processes, including continuous delivery systems and methodologies.

System Availability: Ensure high availability and scalability of systems, performing upgrades with zero downtime.

Incident Management: Monitor environments, troubleshoot incidents, and participate in 24/7 on-call rotations for timely resolution.

Support and Debugging: Assist application engineering teams with infrastructure, build systems, and debugging issues.

Security Audits: Participate in periodic security audits, data breach investigations, and remediation processes.

Postmortem Analysis: Contribute to writing postmortems for incidents to analyze and improve system reliability.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Linux/Unix systems, including DNS, SMTP, TCP/IP, LDAP, firewalls, load balancing, and web applications.
  • Proven experience with continuous delivery, highly available SaaS solutions, and troubleshooting application deployments.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Docker, Packer, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.
  • Experience with AWS architecture and tools like S3, EC2, ELB, ASG, ECS, EKS, and VPCs.
  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using tools like CloudFormation and Terraform.
  • Hands-on experience with web-based services and database technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake.

Programming Skills:

  • Experience with Ruby and Rails is required.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Meticulous and cautious approach to system management and problem-solving.

Additional Skills:

Experience in designing and implementing innovations to improve infrastructure resiliency, security, and data availability.

Ability to operate within security and privacy guidelines.
